8/12. Deadwood

It’s the Wild West in the crime town of Deadwood, days after the Custer massacre in South Dakota, in 1877. The town is populated by a mosaic of fringe people – criminals, discharged soldiers, dubious merchants, prostitutes, businessmen, dreamers, and various delusions – all want to get rich in gold and succeed in the environment Hard and ruthless where the just is the one who pulls out faster. In “Deadwood” there are no laws other than the law of nature – the strong survive.

9/12. 12 Monkeys

The overlooked series is based on Terry Gilliam’s successful film of the same name from 1995 starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. At the center of the film, which has since become a cult and is considered a classic, is a man sent to the past from a dystopian future where humans are imprisoned underground for fear of a deadly virus that has destroyed most people living on the planet. The purpose of the launch is to bring information that will make it possible to defend against the deadly virus. The main characters of the film star in the series (with one twist of gender reassignment as is customary nowadays), but it greatly develops the plot and the idea on which the film is based. In addition, while the film dealt more with the psychological aspect, the series focuses more on the subject of the plague, and as mentioned – the journey through time and its consequences.

10/12. The Expanse

The plot takes place several centuries in the future (no date is specified anywhere, but various clues place it around the middle of the 24th century), with control of the solar system divided between 3 main political forces – the rich planet ruled by the UN, the Republic of Mars is characterized by a militaristic regime that turns it into a powerful military force, and through the “Outer Planet Alliance” (OPA) – a loose alliance between the asteroid belt men and the lunar settlers of the gas giants (Jupiter and Saturn), which for years were the solar system’s “water pumps and coal miners”, Have been exploited by Earth and Mars and are now striving for independence and self-determination.
The various interests of these forces create a kind of “cold war” between Earth and Mars, with the belt men perceived by both sides as terrorists.
