10/10. Sengoku the Buddha
Sengoku’s place on this list may be up for debate, but in his prime, he is portrayed as Whitebeard’s equal. He might have weakened a lot due to old age, but Sengoku is still among the top 10 strongest warriors in One Piece.
As one of the fleet admirals, he has been said to be stronger than the others. The Resourceful General boasts of strong physical abilities as a normal human, in his devil fruit form, he gets a massive boost to those abilities. We witnessed in the Marineford War, that he could crush an entire platform using a simple punch that did not even touch it.
Sengoku the Buddha used to be the fleet admiral of the marines before Sakazuki took over his position. He retired voluntarily after the events of the Marineford Arc and spends a quiet life now away from all the action.
Sengoku was a fine fleet admiral at his time and was feared all around. This is mainly because of his Hito Hito no Mi devil fruit which has the Daibutsu Model. This devil fruit is an extremely rare Mythical Zoan type fruit that allows Sengoku to transform himself into a giant golden Buddha. And just like any other Zoan-type fruit user, he can maintain a hybrid human form too.
Moreover, Sengoku was the only one who could go toe-to-toe against the mighty Whitebeard and his devil fruit power. Sengoku could produce golden shockwaves with the help of his palms which were an equal match against the tremors created by Whitebeard. Further, he had also mastered all three forms of Haki which are very common for a character of his status.
9/10. Monkey D. Garp (Hero of Marines)
Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist and one of the most famous characters in anime of all time didn’t make the top ten strongest list. But, his grandfather easily gets a spot.
Garp possesses incredible strength, he is an absolute monster when it comes to raw physical power. He is literally like a moving mountain that can bulldoze through anything in his path. The best part about all these is that Monkey D. Garp doesn’t use any devil fruit power. All of his crazy achievements have been solely based on his inherent talents and abilities. This is also facilitated by the fact that he became extremely proficient in the use of Armament Haki and Observation Haki in his lifetime.
One example of his mastery over Haki was in his battle against Chinjao. Chinjao had a drill-shaped head that was feared by many people since he was able to split the Jewel Ice Sheet using it.
Monkey D. Garp was a formidable officer during his younger days in the Marines. He was even the next in line to replace Sengoku as the fleet admiral but he refused to do so. But Garp did not care about any of that and went directly to face off against him. It goes without saying that he emerged victorious in that battle and crushed Chinjao’s head using his Haki. Even though Garp does not have any devil fruit powers, he can attack enemies in other ways that they can’t even imagine.
One of them is throwing giant cannonballs at lightning-fast speed and crushing hordes of enemies. This is his special attack called Meteor Fist which has another variation called Meteor Fist Shower where he throws 1000 cannonballs at enemy ships.
8/10. Borsalino “Kizaru”
Below the fleet admiral, there are three more admirals and Kizaru is one of them. He is also the only admiral who did not change his position after the Marineford War. His position in the Marines itself proves his strength and he can be considered next to Sakazuki in terms of a power ranking.
Kizaru wields the power of Pika Pika no Mi which belongs to the type Logia. When he uses his devil fruit powers, he can change his entire body to the element of light. This means that he is immune to any form of physical attack when he is in that state. He can also control and manipulate light at his will. Other than being in that state, he can move at the speed of light which grants him the ability to attack at tremendous speed.
This makes it almost impossible for the enemies to dodge his moves and he can kill them off in the blink of an eye. We all know that Sanji’s kicks are iconic in this series but if there is one person who can match him in that department, it is Kizaru. How can anyone defend against his kicks if they can’t even see them coming?
However, Kizaru’s offensive prowess isn’t limited to kicks. By turning his body into light, he can shoot powerful light beams which are fast enough to pierce through enemies. They can even cause violent explosions on impact which makes Kizaru a very good counter against large groups of opponents.
The other way Kizaru can use his power is by flashing his bright light in front of them to make them blind temporarily. It can come in quite handy if Kizaru wants to make a quick getaway from a battle.
7/10. Kuzan “Aokiji”
Aokiji was the second member of the Marine Admirals trio that we witnessed before the time-skip arc. Kuzan is an intriguing character, he would have placed much higher on this One Piece strongest characters list, but he kind of disappeared after the Marineford War.
However, he still retains that ice-cold fear factor that sent shivers down the spines of pirates. Kuzan has always been feared for his Hie Hie no Mi devil fruit.
It allows Aokiji to manipulate ice at will and even turn himself into it. He has mastered his devil fruit power to the point that he can freeze an entire water body into ice within a few seconds. Kuzan doesn’t need any boat to cross a large sea or river because he can just walk on it with his ice.
The one weakness in having an ice-based Logia power is that he is not completely immune to physical attacks. But that doesn’t mean he can be easily defeated by them too. In case a physical attack hits him, his body shatters completely and then joins back together again.
Aokiji can even create weapons made of ice that come in handy in a battle. He is not restricted to using his devil fruit power only in one way. He has modified it perfectly to make it quite versatile. The most terrifying thing about this powerful One Piece character is that he can also freeze anything on land over a large distance. He doesn’t even necessarily have to be near the target in order to do so. Once he freezes his enemies in ice, it is impossible for them to get out themselves. The ice is extremely solid and the one inflicted with it can suffer from serious frostbite. It was also shown that Aokiji changed the entire climate of an area by the overuse of his devil fruit powers.

6/10. Dracule “Hawk Eyes” Mihawk
The warlord of the sea before the system was abolished has managed to spread his name far and wide as the strongest swordsman in the world. This is why Mihawk’s battle against Zoro in the Baratie Arc (Episode 24) was legendary.
Mihawk is also one of those characters who doesn’t have any devil fruit powers. As long as he has the sword in his hand, it is enough for him to cut down any opponent or obstacle. He is unparalleled when it comes to AP and no one can match up against him.
Mihawk can even go toe-to-toe against Shanks who is considered a big shot in the pirate world. Dracule hasn’t allowed his lack of devil fruit power to drag him down.
He trained himself with his sword in such a way that it gives him great versatility when it comes to battles. If we take into consideration a battle where he faces off against people using guns, he can repel their bullets using his sword and if he faces off against strong fleets of ships, he can cut them down using his sword.
These are just some of the examples that show his skills with his main weapon. Besides that, he can also use Armament Haki and Observation Haki which are vital for him in being a swordsman. This is because when facing off against strong devil fruit users, he may be at a disadvantage without his Armament Haki.
Many Logia-type users are immune to physical damage and in their case, Mihawk needs to use Armament Haki combined with his swordsmanship skills. This also protects his sword from any kind of harm. Mihawk is usually seen wielding his black sword, Yoru, but he also keeps a subsequent cross knife on his neck in case of emergencies.

The current fleet admiral of the marines is doing a decent job compared to his predecessor Sengoku. Akainu also happens to be the last member of the admiral’s trio that we were used to seeing.
The only thing that is needed to remind us of Akainu’s strength is the fact that he is responsible for killing Ace. He punched a hole straight through his gut that created one of the saddest moments in the series of history. Sakazuki wields the power of Magu Magu no Mi which is a logia-type devil fruit. It is very interesting to notice that all three admirals had Logia-type devil fruit powers. Mag no Mi allows Akainu to transform himself into magma. It further grants him complete power over magma and he can use it any way he wants.
Sakazuki is known for his headstrong offensive tactics in battle. Just like Magma, he can charge through anything and burn it down to the ground. In terms of attacking power, there are many characters who can even think about competing with him. This is mainly because he possesses tremendous physical power and usually combines it with his devil fruit ability.
Akainu changes his arms to magma and lands powerful punches straight down on his enemies. He can even throw magma punches in quick succession and make it seem like a meteor is raining down on the pirates.
His Logia fruit power already makes him invincible to physical attacks but that’s not all. The tremendous heat he emits in his magma prevents anyone from even coming near him. Just like the other admirals, he can also use Armament Haki and Observation Haki as if the rest of his strongest abilities are not scary enough.

4/10. “Red-Haired” Shanks
The red-haired character is shrouded in mystery. We are still not sure of his exact powers since Oda has decided to keep that hidden from us. Perhaps we will get to witness his power levels in the upcoming One Piece film Red.
Having said that, Shanks is without a doubt one of the top 10 strongest characters in One Piece in terms of abilities. After all, he is not simply one of the Four Emperors of the New World. Shanks began his pirate career as a crew member of the legendary Roger Pirates.
It is safe to say that Shanks has got enough experience on his hands to rival anyone in becoming the next King of Pirates. This is supported by the fact that he can use all three forms of Haki including Conqueror’s Haki – a feat that very few people can even think of achieving. That alone places Shanks at the top of this list.
The most impressive thing about Shanks is that the power of his Conqueror’s Haki is at a tremendously high level. He can knock out millions of weak people in a single moment, just by using his Conqueror’s Haki.
Aside from that, Shanks is also a master swordsman. Before Zoro burst onto the scene, Shanks was considered the rival of Mihawks. And as we have already established, facing off against Mihawk with a sword is certainly a big achievement. Shanks can also infuse his sword (Gryphon) with Haki and we saw him using this technique as a counter to Akainu’s logia devil fruit powers.
Another noteworthy ability in Shanks is stealth. Pirates are usually known to be very loud and boisterous but Shanks on the other hand seems a very calm person. He infiltrated Mary Geoise all by himself, which is considered to be one of the most heavily guarded places of the World Government.
3/10. Charlotte Linlin aka “Big Mom”
As we get closer to the top of this list of One Piece Strongest Characters, we are going to see a lot more Yonkos villains.
Big Mom is currently acting as the major antagonist and is fighting alongside Kaidou. She is one of the strongest characters alive in One Piece today.
Big Mom has got a range of special powers including a fearsome devil fruit ability. She wields the power of Soru Soru no Mi and she can kill anyone instantly using this power. Basically, the Soru Soru no Mi allows her to manifest the souls of people by feeding on their fear. Linlin can even take their soul away which leads to a decrease in their lifespan. She can even go on to kill them by extracting their entire lifespan.
However, her ability doesn’t stop at this. After extracting a soul she can infuse it with a non-living object and create homies. These homies consider Linlin as their master and can even help her massively in battles.
Currently, she has three homies named Hera, Prometheus, and Napoleon. Big Mom used to have another homie named Zeus which Nami managed to get a hold of. Prometheus helped Linlin to fly in the sky and shoot powerful bolts of lightning. When it comes to Napoleon she can wield it like a blade and receive information from other homies. Being one of the Four Members of the New World, Big Mom can use all three types of Haki.
When you combine that with her gigantic presence, she can appear to be a very scary character. Big Mom’s enormous form gives her superhuman strength and she can charge through massive armies just by herself.
She can wreak havoc through large towns and destroy massive fleets without any help. This proves that even if Big Mom didn’t have her devil fruit power, she would have become one of the Four Emperors easily.
2/10. Marshall D. Teach aka “Blackbeard”
One of the main antagonists in the series and even managed to become a part of the Four Emperors after the death of Whitebeard.
Blackbeard is the perfect personification of a villain and there isn’t a single fan who doesn’t despise him. The most fearsome aspect of Blackbeard is that he uses not one, but two devil fruit powers! This is a very unique case in the world of One Piece, and Blackbeard is the only one who can do it at this point.
His original power comes from the Yami Yami no Mi devil fruit. It is a Logia-type devil fruit that allows him to turn into darkness. He can also manipulate it but doesn’t become immune to physical damage, unlike other devil fruit users. The main power of this fruit lies in the fact that it can absorb anything like a black hole. This means that any form of elemental attack can be absorbed by Blackbeard without taking single damage.
After trapping something in his darkness, it won’t come out unless Blackbeard himself decides to release it. This means that once Blackbeard manages to trap something using his power it will remain in that black hole for eternity. The other devil fruit that Blackbeard managed to acquire was the Gura Gura no Mi devil fruit. This happened after the death of Whitebeard during the Marineford Arc. Using the power of Gura Gura no Mi, Blackbeard can create massive shockwaves capable of bringing down an entire city.
It is a highly offensive strategy that Blackbeard can combine with his darkness to almost make him invincible. But that’s not all. He can even use it to block attacks, which goes on to prove that this power is highly versatile in nature.
1/10. Kaido “King Of The Beasts”
Kaido is undoubtedly the strongest character in One Piece. He may not have two devil fruit powers like Blackbeard, but the power of experience is on his side. Kaido is not new to the scene of pirates like Blackbeard. He has traveled with famous figures in history and managed to climb the top of the ladder all by himself.
Kaido commands an army of Beast Pirates and is himself a Zoan-type devil fruit user. He uses the power of Uo Uo no Mi Seiryu Model devil fruit with which he can become a large blue dragon and wreak havoc in his path. Just like other Zoan-type devil fruit users, Kaido can also maintain a human-beast hybrid form and gain a huge advantage in battles. Kaido can turn into a dragon not only for its appearance.
He can also utilize a dragon’s power by flying through the air using Flame Clouds. The best dragons are capable of releasing fire through their mouths and Kaido is also no exception in this case. His dragon is also extremely large in size which allows him to destroy large structures within seconds.
Since we are talking about the strongest One Piece character here, it is important to note that Kaido’s dragon abilities are not only restricted to fire.
He can even use lightning and wind as elemental attacks. Kaido has mastered all three types of Haki but when it comes to Conqueror Haki and Armament Haki, he is unmatched. The sheer power of Kaido’s Conqueror Haki split open the heavens during his clash against Big Mom. In the case of Armament Haki, he generally infuses his Kanabo with it and attacks his enemies.
