To tackle the situation and take over the government, a rebellious group of assassins emerges that work in the shadows, and our main character joins them. Nobody is safe in that show, I repeat, nobody is safe and that’s what makes it so addictive and tragic at the same time. Although the concept of anime like Akame Ga Killis is pretty dark, the comical scenes give it a brighter tone, which is what makes it so addictive. So, without further adieu, let’s get right into it.

Up next on our list of shows like Akame Ga Kill, we have a slightly underrated emo anime.
The anime shares a very mind-boggling concept of Heaven’s Gate and Hell’s Gate, discussing the secrets of the mysterious locations and the emotionless, powerful beings called contractors that emerged from them.

The most legendary anime of all time, deserving all the hype in this world! It takes place in the dystopian future, where Britannia takes over Japan and names it Area 11.

Code Geass has a more interesting political setting. It also exhibits a rising rebellion, much like the situation in Akame Ga Kill.
10. The Seven Deadly Sins
Let’s talk about The Seven Deadly Sins, the most popular and loved anime of the decade. The anime is quite literally focused on the seven deadly sins. Our main character, Elizabeth Liones goes on a search for the Seven Deadly Sins in order to fight against the Holy Knight. The first sin she finds is Melodias, the leader of the group and also the second main character.
Both Meliodas x Elizabeth embarks on a journey to look for the remaining sins. What makes the anime similar is the medieval setting and the magical weapons.
11. Tokyo Ghoul
In the beginning, Tokyo Ghoul may appear to be a bit too bromal, but trust me, it’s anything but normal. Tokyo Ghoul revolves around Kaneki Ken, who is an avid reader and ends up going on a date with a lovely girl with glasses named Rize Kamishiro, who is also a reader. Sounds pretty normal, right? Except, Rize here is a ghoul who devours humans to survive.
Long story short, Kaneki ends up turning into a half-ghoul and undergoes multiple tortures and obstacles. The anime has a really dark vibe to it, having lots of blood and tragedies in it. Spoiler alert: **** Kaneki, much like Akame, ends up losing a lot of his loved ones. Another similar theme in both anime is that there is a tyrant ruler.
12. The Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)
The series focuses on the life of a high school boy, Yukiteru Amano, who is always alone and is too shy to talk to anyone.
Our guy is such a loner that he writes about his daily life in a diary on his phone, and he has an imaginary friend named Deus Ex Machina (And I’m guessing that its name is after the Machine City in the Matrix film series), except he is actually real in the anime.
Deus is a god of time who will perish soon, and therefore, he’s looking for a successor by conducting a death match between 12 people, and our main character gets dragged into it.
Furthermore, Yuki teams up with Yuno who is also overly obsessed with him to the point that she stalks him all the time. In short, Future Diary is an anime like Akame Ga Kill, having lots of blood, gore, and assassinations in it.

He sends the two into the human world to fulfill the dead in his stead. However, our main character Rin realizes his importance and decides to become an exorcist to fight against his father.

This anime demonstrates the kind of bloody violence you will absolutely love. The plot focuses on ferocious Goblins that are a threat to society due to their cunning nature and rapid reproduction. The goblins raid towns to kidnap women of various species for breeding purposes.
An organization, specifically, an Adventurer’s Guild of Goblin Slayers is formed to eliminate and deal with goblins. A young priestess adventurer who just begins her journey as an adventurer with other rookies is ambushed by a group of goblins. All of her teammates die when Goblin Slayer comes to her rescue. The two then embark on a journey together to fight against all the goblins.
Goblin Slayer has an adventure setting with more blood, gore, and impressive fight scenes.
15. Kill la Kill
Last but not least, we have another anime exploring the theme of revenge and rebellion, but in a unique and slightly light-hearted manner.
Kill La Kill revolves around a popular young girl named Ryuko whose father gets murdered, with the only clue being the killer’s weapon, a large pair of scissors. Ryuko finds a link to her father’s murder in Honnouiji Academy, having an oppressive ruler named Satsuki Kiryuuin. Satsuki is the student council president having countless loyal followers, especially the Elite Four.
Together with her followers, she uses special outfits known as the Goku Uniforms that offer them special abilities, allowing them to control the entire school.
The oppressive nature of the student council combined with the usage of special uniforms containing abilities resonates well with Akame Ga Kill’s theme and the imperial arms.
