Tokyo Ghoul revolves around Kaneki Ken, who is an avid reader and ends up going on a date with a girl named Rize Kamishiro, who is also a reader – sounds pretty normal, right? Except, Rize here is a ghoul who devours humans to survive.

Long story short, Kaneki ends up turning into a half-ghoul and undergoes multiple tortures and obstacles. The anime has a really dark vibe to it, having lots of blood and tragedies in it.

Last but not least, we have another anime exploring the theme of revenge and rebellion, but in a unique and slightly light-hearted manner.
