Here’s a list of the top 90 best ecchi harem anime that contains most of my favorite anime. Rest assured they may become your favorite as well. Anime is known for the diversity of content it has to offer. There are a lot of genres and one of them is the Ecchi Harem genre. These genres are quite unique and interesting to explore. In addition, they are also very popular. The term Ecchi means “naughty” and Haram means “surrounded by girls”. You’ll get a clearer picture in your head of the type of anime we are going to discuss. The anime with ecchi harem themes are considered dull in terms of the overall plot, but this is not true at all as I have personally watched a number of these anime and found them riveting in terms of storyline. The best ecchi harem anime series have a lot of good character development and exciting romance, they are less vulgar but funny and magical. So, without any further ado, let’s begin this anime list.
90. Maken-Ki! (Battling Venus, MAL Score: 6.36)
The plot sees Takeru Ooyama enrolled in a former women’s institute, now also open to men. There she gets back in touch with a long-time friend. This is not a conventional institute, but a school where they train fighters who use the “natural” elements to obtain unimaginable powers.
The childhood friend, the self-proclaimed girlfriend, and another girl who rotates in between, a fairly common beginning for the ecchi harem anime series. Add to that, however, a school for the super-gifted with concealed weapons! And everything in this anime seems remarkable: it’s full of gorgeous hottest aesthetic anime girls, great graphics, good music, and a lot of fun stuff with the genre’s elements that never fail to entertain.
89. Renai Flops (Love Flops, Mal Score 6.73)
The best part about this is that the whole story takes place in a sci-fi world where artificial intelligence and robotics are commonplace. The main character is a high school student who finds himself at the center of a whirlwind romance with multiple girls after meeting a fortune teller who uses AI technology to predict his future. This story explores themes of love, fate, and technology in a sci-fi setting that is sure to appeal to fans of romance and science fiction. Overall, this is a unique and fun story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats as they learn more about Asahi’s past and the strange world in which he lives.
Initially, I thought it was a generic ecchi harem rom-com. However, the show surprised me in the second half with a major plot twist that turned the world upside down and deconstructed many of the generic tropes established in earlier episodes. While the fan service was lacking compared to other shows of its genre, the show’s good writing and big plot twists made it highly recommended for those interested in the intersection of technology and reality.
88. Eromanga Sensei (MAL Score: 5.93)
The story revolves around Masamune, a high school boy who writes light novels. His younger sister’s name is Sagiri, and she has been locked in her room for a year now. When she gets hungry, she stomps her feet on the floor and forces her brother to bring her food. That said, the protagonist works with an illustrator who calls himself “EroManga Sensei”, an invented name that conceals his identity, who is very good at drawing what Masamune writes in light novels. Masamune had never met him before and always imagined him to be a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, she later discovers the truth.
It is none other than his younger sister! As if that is not enough, to further complicate the situation, enters the scene a beautiful girl author of a successful shojo becomes their rival. Eromanga Sensei may not be the best ecchi harem, it’s quite a cringe anime, but you shouldn’t miss it because it got cute characters ecchi comedy, and an interesting rom-com story.
87. Hajimete no Gyaru (My First Girlfriend Is a Gal, MAL Score: 6.29)
Junichi “Jun” Hashiba is a high schooler who, like many of his peers, is itching to lose his virginity in high school. Too bad he is not at all popular and often hangs out with other classmates of his ilk and in his condition. One day, he makes a bet to make the declaration to Yukana Yame, a beautiful girl with blonde hair who always dresses fashionably in Gyaru style. Jun prostrates himself at her feet certain of failure. Surprisingly, however, Yame does not reject him and agrees to date Jun, even though she often teases him a bit. How will this odd couple’s relationship evolve?
My First Girlfriend Is a Gal is a simple comedy but not a very effective one. It is one of those anime that you are willing to see only once in a lifetime because even a second viewing would be very boring. In the end, the work does nothing but repeat a story already seen and reviewed many times. However, I recommend it if you want a light and unpretentious product.
86. Koi Koi 7 (MAL Score: 5.77)
Tanaka Tetsuro is excited to get a full scholarship to a new high school, away from his family. What he doesn’t know is that he’ll be the only boy in an all-girls school. And on top of that, there’s a girl in love with him, waiting for his arrival. But, his special friendship with the very likable and dynamic Asuka causes him to get into trouble. The powerful leaders of the student council are at open war with Asuka and her five friends. They are a group of super-warriors called the Koi Koi Seven.
Koi Koi 7 is an anime that I wasn’t passionate about. I kept watching just out of curiosity, maybe hoping for an ending that would give a minimum sense to this semblance of a story. I can’t explain why I enjoy this ridiculously bad show other than that I want to see what happens next.
85. Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose (MAL Score 6.07)
Sueharu Maru is a high school student who is in love with his childhood friend Shirokusa Kachi. When he confesses his feelings to her, he is rejected and left heartbroken but is approached by another childhood friend, Kuroha Shida, who offers to help him get over Shirokusa by pretending to be his girlfriend
A typical ecchi harem series, with most of the usual tropes: a boring main character, a cast of attractive female characters, and a central love triangle that dominates the storyline. The anime adaptation of this series does not deviate much from these tropes and has some notable drawbacks, including confusing and disorganized plotlines, subpar animation quality, and typical harem humor.
84. Megami-ryou no Ryoubo-kun (Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory, MAL Score: 6.52)
This story follows a young man named Koushi Nagumo who suddenly experiences a series of misfortunes. First, his house burns down in a fire and his parents abandon him. Left to fend for himself, he collapses on the street and is taken in by an eccentric woman named Mineru Wachi. She invites him to become the official dormitory mother at Megami-you, a female dormitory where each resident with their own eccentricities resides. Despite the challenges that he faces, Koushi does his best to fulfill his duties as the dormitory mother and help the residents find happiness!
The show veers off into surreal and unexpected territory at times, which kept me watching. While it follows some common tropes of the ecchi genre, it excels in showcasing busty anime girls. If you were to remove this from the show would still earn a solid 6/10 rating.
83. Samurai Harem (Asu no Yoichi, Mal 6.70)
In “Samurai Harem,” the story revolves around Yoichi Karasuma, a young man who has spent his entire life secluded in the mountains, diligently honing his martial skills in the Soaring Wind, Divine Wind swordsmanship style under his father’s guidance. Remarkably, he mastered this technique by the tender age of 17, leaving him with nothing more to learn.
However, Yoichi’s father decides it’s time for him to experience the complexities of modern society and sends him to a new dojo in the city. This abrupt transition from the mountains to the bustling urban world poses a significant challenge for Yoichi. He struggles to adapt, clinging to his samurai ways, complete with archaic speech and traditional clothing.
As he takes up residence with the Ikaruga sisters at the dojo, Yoichi’s difficulties in relating to contemporary society lead to a series of uproarious misunderstandings. “Samurai Harem” or “Asu no Yoichi!” follows Yoichi’s comical journey as he navigates his new life, striving to understand and coexist with his modern-day family while retaining his traditional values and upbringing.
82. DearS (MAL, 6.56)
“DearS” presents a unique premise set in a world where 150 aliens known as “DearS” crash-land on Earth and are granted Japanese citizenship, complete with language and cultural training. To foster their integration into human society, a homestay program is initiated.
The story takes an intriguing twist when a capsule containing one of these aliens accidentally falls into a river, releasing her. She is discovered by Takeya Ikuhara, a high school student with a strong distrust of the DearS. Despite his initial reservations, Takeya names her Ren and becomes her “Master.” Ren, now his personal “Slave,” brings an end to Takeya’s ordinary life as he becomes entangled with this enigmatic alien.
However, “DearS” doesn’t fully capitalize on its unique setup. The series dives into a familiar ecchi territory, often leaning on recycled themes from other shows of its kind. The abundance of fan-service moments can be cringe-worthy, with scenes that may leave viewers shaking their heads in disbelief.
81. Kanojo mo Kanojo (Girlfriend, Girlfriend, MAL Score: 6.55)
Naoya Mukai’s life is turned upside down after his childhood friend, Saki Saki, finally accepts one of his many confessions. Now, with a steady relationship finally in the works, Naoya spares no effort in showering his girlfriend with affection. However, one afternoon, another girl named Nagisa Minase suddenly confesses to Naoya. Despite his polite rejection, Nagisa’s irresistible charm and determination continue to attract Naoya, leading him to propose an unprecedented state of affairs–to date both girls simultaneously, with both girls fully aware.
The resulting wacky and hilarious hijinks are sure to please fans of harem romcoms!
80. Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka? (MAL Score: 6.55)
One afternoon, having finished cleaning the classroom of the calligraphy club, Kiryuu Keiki finds, on the desk in the classroom, a letter addressed to him. He opens the envelope and finds only the words “I like you” written on it, with a pair of the sender’s panties attached. With the only clue of the panties, Keiki tries to find out who the sender might be, among the four thick girls who cleaned the classroom with him. They are Tokihara Sayuki, the club president; Koga Yuika, a girl of foreign descent; Nanjou Mao, Keiki’s tsundere friend; or, even more awkwardly, Kiryuu Mizuha, Keiki’s sweet little sister.
A very light anime, but it still manages to entertain. It made me laugh on more than a few occasions. The character design is pleasing to the eye and the music of the comic moments is so catchy that I think it will stick in my mind for a while. The main character is the classic loser who, in one way or another, always manages to find himself in the midst of girls who would normally be well above his reach. But the ‘kink fetish’ elements together with the accompanying reactions create hilarious situations.
79. Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai (So, I Can’t Play H! Mal Score: 6.56 )
Ryousuke Kaga may seem like an average perverted teenager, but this is only a surface-level appearance. Underneath, he is actually a compassionate boy who has sworn to be chivalrous towards girls. This trait is what initially attracts Lisara Restall, a Soul Reaper from a noble family whose primary objective in the human realm is to locate a magically powerful person known as the One. In order to fulfill her objective and fuel her journey with magic, Lisara enacts a strange arrangement with Ryousuke – one whose true purpose is yet unknown and which is sure to yield many interesting discoveries along the way.
78. Strawberry 100% (Ichigo 100%)
“Ichigo 100%” introduces us to Manaka Junpei, a young man with two paramount dreams: to become a filmmaker and to find his elusive soulmate. His quest takes an unexpected turn when, by sheer chance, he encounters a mysterious girl on the school rooftop, and the only clue to her identity is the strawberry panties she wore. But, amid the whirlwind of pursuing his dream girl, Manaka is confronted with a conundrum—he can’t definitively identify which of the five girls pursuing him was the one with the strawberry panties.
The story, at its core, adheres to the formula of an ordinary harem narrative. Manaka, a typical high school student, crosses paths with a variety of female characters, each with her own distinctive traits and characteristics. As he navigates the complexities of his love life, he becomes acquainted with Aya Toujou, the smartest girl in school, and comes to discover that she is the one with the strawberry panties—a revelation that, although expected, sets the stage for further romantic developments.
The plot unfolds predictably, with Manaka accepting a challenge to ask out another girl, Tsukasa Nishino, which leads to a surprisingly positive response. As the story progresses, the characters transition to high school, introducing additional players like Satsuki Kataiouji and Yui Minamito.
77. Kiss x Sis (MAL Score: 6.67)
Keita lives every boy’s dream: to have two sisters who are willing to do anything to make him happy. But our Keita sees his sisters, even if not by blood, simply as normal sisters. Ako and Riko, however, would like something more than just to be brother and sister.
Kiss x sis is one of those anime that represents pure ecchi, something that should be judged on its own and not according to normal criteria. It’s pure eroticism entertainment.
76. Dance Blade Dance of the Elementalers (Seireitsukai no Blade , MAL 6.68)
In a world where only pure maidens can forge contracts with spirits, Kamito Kazehaya stands as a unique exception. As the sole male granted this extraordinary privilege, Kamito wields the power to summon spirits from Astral Zero, the realm of spirits, and control their formidable abilities. His journey unfolds at the Areisha Spirit Academy, an institution dedicated to training priestesses to become skilled elementalists.
However, Kamito’s presence at the academy is not merely a coincidence. Driven by a mysterious past, he is tasked with transferring to the school and forming a team with fellow priestesses. Together, they must enter the prestigious Blade Dance competition, where elementalists vie for supremacy. The ultimate goal is to emerge as the most powerful elementalist and claim the coveted title.
With the stage set for fierce competition and supernatural battles, “Blade Dance of the Elementalers” embarks on a thrilling adventure that revolves around Kamito’s exceptional abilities and the challenges he faces in the quest to secure victory in the Blade Dance tournament.
75. Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (Ao-chan Can’t Study! MAL Score: 6.75)
Ao’s father is a famous author of erotic novels! Although she is reserved and innocent, Ao cannot help but remember the “education” she received thanks to her father’s books. Thus, she does her best to avoid boys, believing them to be animals in the grip of sexual urges. For this reason, she finds herself having to reject the feelings of one of her classmates, but ending up in increasingly unpredictable and misunderstood situations!
Ao-chan Can’t Study! is an anime from which you wouldn’t expect anything after the first episode, it seems like the usual tired ecchi stuff. I didn’t expect much after the first two episodes, but the longer it goes on, the more you can’t wait to watch the continuation. Really funny, witty, and with many paradoxical situations.
74. Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu (How not to Summon a Demon Lord, MAL Score: 6.73)
Takuma Sakamoto is an ordinary gamer. He reaches the top level of an online role game and earns the title “The Demon King”. At some point, he is transported to another world where he is summoned by two girls who want to become “Master Summoners”.
The beginning is compelling and the isekai anime OP protagonists find themselves facing numerous adventures and challenges that put them to the test. Yet going forward it fails to really hit the mark, not fully appealing to its users. The outcomes of the challenges are almost always obvious, since our protagonist is level 150, in a world where most people barely reach level 50. In addition, the ecchi harem is not sexy at all.
73. Rosario + Vampire (MAL Score: 6.79)
Tsukune Aono is a classic high school student who, due to his low grades, has not been able to get into any private school. By chance, he enters the Youkai academy, but it turns out to be a school for monsters. In this school setting, Tsukune meets Moka Akashika, a strong vampire. He is strongly attracted to her blood.
Despite all the differences you can imagine, the two will become good friends. The plot itself has a linear progression. In each episode, a monster appears and is defeated in a few moments by the terrible vampire. Some of these monsters, mainly women, will end up redeeming themselves. They will gradually join the group until they form a real harem that will create many headaches for the protagonist. It’s an anime with absolutely no pretensions and maybe you’ll enjoy it as a pastime.

When monsters with powerful abilities attack earth out of nowhere, world peace is at risk. Individuals with fighting abilities are reincarnated as saviors to fight these dreadful monsters. Moroha Haimura is a young warrior who is reincarnated into this world. He is a unique case as he can use the powers of two different natures (Shirogane and Kuroma). When he meets Ranjou Satsuki and Shizuno Urushibara, Moroha realizes that his encounter with these beautiful girls is no coincidence as both of them have shared history with him. With this situation in place, what will be Moroha’s course of action?
It’s a pretty generic high school series, but World Break is one of my guilty pleasures. The whole insane chanting makes the fights so much fun.
71. Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai (Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon 6.82)
In a world plagued by magical dangers and threats, the Anti-Magic Academy specializes in training a group of warriors known as Inquisitors who are tasked with preventing these dangers and nefarious actions. One of these squads is the 35th Test Platoon, known as the “Small Fry Platoon” due to its low ranking and incompetent members. In an unexpected upset, Ouka Ootori, a powerful and rebellious former Inquisitor, is forced into joining after committing a serious violation – namely the killing of a witch. This group of rag-tag misfits has their work cut out for them if they are to climb the ranks.
70. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou (Demon King Daimao, MAL Score: 6.81)
Akuto Sai wants to become the greatest magician and cleric in the world. When he arrives at the Constant Magical Academy, his aptitude test has an unexpected result: his future occupation will be “Devil King”. Distanced from his classmates, desired by a mysterious girl, and protected by an android, Akuto begins his new and hectic life inside the magical academy.
It has so many flaws and if I had to be as objective as possible I wouldn’t use too many nice words to describe this anime. However, since this is a personal list, this ecchi harem absolutely deserves a viewing and a place on this list for various reasons represented by the story, the pacing, and the action scenes.
69. Freezing (MAL Score: 6.84)
In the XXI century, the Earth was attacked by mysterious creatures from another dimension. Genetically modified warriors called ‘Pandora’ are on a mission to fight them.
The plot is not the most original. Monsters from other worlds have been seen galore even before the famous Evangelion and Eureka Seven spaceship. Freezing is still a “light” entertainment anime, the kind you watch when there’s nothing better. But, if you can make it through the first episode, you’ll actually quite enjoy it.
68. AntiMagic Academy 35th Test Platoon (Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai, MAL Score: 6.85)
In a not-too-distant future, born in an alternative past, magic never stopped being cultivated and studied, while continuing to coexist with technology and firearms. But since many have turned to evil deeds, it was necessary to create the inquisitors, a special body capable of dealing with these offenders. The protagonist of our story is called Kusanagi Takeru, a student in a prestigious academy for the preparation of inquisitors.
The scheme is the classic one: a hot bad boy, surrounded by a large number of maidens, in turn, will have to solve the problems that beset them. Once he has overcome the difficulty, he will inevitably manage to capture their hearts and so our harem is formed. As for the girls, none of them appear too obnoxious. They show different traits among them, although it is evident in the resumption of the most classic clichés of the genre.
67. Shinmai Maou no Testament (The Testament of Sister New Devil, MAL Score: 6.88)
Basara Toujou discovers that his father has decided to marry for the second time when he suddenly encounters his half-sister in the bathroom. His father brings home two young girls and Basara has no choice but to accept them as members of his family. As Basara begins to accept this new reality, his father leaves him with the girls and goes abroad on business.
I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible anime, but I wouldn’t call it great either. The main characters aren’t that bad, but the supporting characters are very weak. Most of the plot twists are very predictable. The shounen-style epic battles are also very typical. A little more development of the other characters, which turned out to be one-dimensional, would have made the show much better and much more entertaining.
66. Omamori Himari (MAL Score: 6.88)
Demons and evil spirits are a mere myth for normal people, but their existence is real, and warriors have been fighting them behind the shadows to protect people. Yuuto Amakawa is a normal teenager who has been living on his own since the tragic death of his parents. He had an amulet that he valued most because it was the last memento of his late parents. He meets Himari Noihara, a beautiful young girl. She saves Yuuto from the demons and tells him about his ancestors who fought these demons as well.
Will Yuto and Himari be able to protect the peace of the world while solving their own problems? Ecchi aside, I thought the story was great and entertaining, but the potential just gets wasted.
65. Keijo!!!!!!!! (Hip Whip Girl: Keijo!!!!!! MAL Score: 6.97)
Nozomi Kaminashi, the 17 years girl with unforgettable bangs, is a high school student but above all a talented and agile thick gymnast. For this reason, she is sought after by all the sports clubs in her school. However, she comes from a poor family that can barely make ends meet. In order to help her family, she decides to become a Keijo professional, a sport where athletes can earn a lot of money. But what does Keijo consist of? Basically, the (female) contenders place themselves on a floating platform and the aim of the competition is to throw the opponents into the water using their butts and breasts only.
The series has a strong humorous verve. It is filled with parodic quotes from other works of the shonen genre that, certainly, are taken much less lightly. For this reason, intrinsic humor catches on.
64. Shuffle! (7.02)
“Shuffle!” delves into the life of Rin, a high school student living alongside his adopted sister, Kaede. Kaede harbors a secret longing for a deeper, romantic connection with Rin, anticipating the day he reciprocates her feelings. However, their world takes a peculiar turn when heavenly and demonic forces descend to Earth with a singular agenda: they want Rin to mate with their alluring daughters.
As any typical teenager might, Rin finds himself faced with an unexpected harem of young women, each vying for his attention. He revels in this newfound attention, embracing the carefree and unconventional lifestyle it brings. Yet, as the number of admirers grows, Rin must grapple with the challenges of balancing their affections while maintaining his rooftop lunchtime routine.
The anime explores themes of love, relationships, and sacrifice within the context of Rin and his newfound companions, who, intriguingly, are considered slaves in their own right. “Shuffle!” offers a blend of romantic and supernatural elements, all set against the backdrop of a high school setting, making it an engaging and often unpredictable narrative.
63. Seirei Gensouki (Spirit Chronicles, MAL Score: 7.05)
Rio, an orphaned boy living in poverty, discovers at the age of 7 that he is the reincarnation of a Japanese university student, Haruto Amakawa, who died prematurely. The memories and the two personalities merge together and Rio acquires a special power thanks to which he is able to foil the kidnapping of a young girl who turns out to be the crown princess of the kingdom of Beltram. As a thank you, Rio is adopted and placed in the ranks of the Royal Academy educating the cream of the kingdom’s nobility.
So what will happen to an individual of humble origins like him, catapulted into the environment of the high aristocracy? I liked the beginning. However, halfway down the story turns out to be flat. The only thing interesting about it is the “reincarnations”.

According to ancient Japanese, Tsukumogami is an inanimate object that has come to life all of a sudden. But there’s a whole lot of difference between the ‘Tsugumomo’, the good kind, and the ‘Amasogi’, the evil kind. Kazuya Kagami is going to have his world do a total 180 on him soon. W
ith his beloved mother’s obi transforming into a ‘Tsugumomo’ all of a sudden, just what does tomorrow hold for the boy who has to live and breathe nothing but Japanese folklore now? A fantasy coming to play in this harem ecchi anime that’s one of a kind for sure!
61. 1. 7-nin no Masho Tsukai (Trinity Seven, MAL Score: 7.10)
Every day is always the same in the small town where Kasuga Arata lives. However, on the day a sorceress arrives in town, she discovers the truth about the Black Sun that caused the Breakdown Phenomenon that destroyed everything in the town where she lives. In fact, his daily life had been artificially reconstructed from a Grimoire that his childhood friend Hijiri had left him. In order to discover the truth about the phenomenon and find Hijiri, Arata enrolls in the magical academy Biblia where, however, seven powerful sorceresses called Trinity Seven “dominate”.
The characters are engaging, from Arata to all of the Trinity Seven, and each character enters into the good graces of the viewer. Trinity Seven has an excellent feel of mystery during the first episodes. It builds the climax slowly and explodes in the last episode.
60. Overflow (MAL Score: 7.14)
Kazushi Sudou returns from work and finds himself at home with the Shirakawa sisters, Ayane and Kotone. Between one bickering and another, the three of them end up taking a bath together, however, the affair takes an unexpected turn. This is the story of a teenage love affair involving a boy being fought over by two sisters for his attention. But attention rhymes with attraction, and that’s exactly what the protagonist shows towards the two sisters, albeit on and off.
The plot is simple and straightforward, with no misunderstandings, or misinterpretations. The soundtrack is soft and tender, to better suit the intimate overall atmosphere. The opening and closing theme songs are very harmonious, catchy, and balanced. The feelings represented, despite the frankness and directness, are deep and sincere.
59. Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? (Invaders Of The Rokujouma!? MAL Score: 7.15)
Living alone as a student is not as easy as it sounds, especially when you are on a tight budget. That is the case with a young high school student who struggles to find a place to stay. Koutarou Satomi is a high school student who decides to live on his own. In his desperate times, he finds a room in a low rental apartment. However, despair soon falls on Koutarou when he comes across spiritual beings who want his room for their personal gains.
All of these beings are cute girls who are desperate for this room. With this awkward situation in place, what will be Koutarou’s course of action? This anime is so underrated. It has so many little details going on in the background, a great cast, and the plot is actually really interesting.
58. Nyan Koi! (MAL Score: 7.16)
Even though cats are adorable animals, some people are severely allergic to cats. That was the case with the teenager Junpei Kousaka, a high school student, who was allergic to cats. Things became much more complicated for him when his crush Kaede Mizuno turned out to be a cat girl lover. He ends up getting cursed by the statue of the cat deity that he accidentally broke while roaming the streets in depression.
Will Junpei be able to lift this grave curse by helping the cats in trouble? I ended up binging in one night. Totally worth the sleep depression the next day.
57. Yokoso Jitsuryoku Shijo Shugi no Kyoshitsu e (Classroom of the Elite, MAL Score: 7.84)
The story takes place in Kodo Ikusei High School, a prestigious school with state-of-the-art equipment. Students who attend this high school have the opportunity to easily attend an elite university and find a job right away. The student can wear what they want and carry their own belongings. Kiyotaka Ayanokoji attends section D, a class in which there are the worst students. It’s an anime of little depth, with an interesting basic idea but really poorly handled.
The first few episodes I didn’t even find that bad, I liked the fact that they lost/gained points and all the dynamics that revolved around it. But, from the middle of the series onwards, it’s a total disaster. The plot loses all its interest and becomes out of nowhere a sort of survival of a very low level, and inconsistent with previous episodes. Too bad, because there were several interesting ideas.
56. Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko (The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat, MAL Score: 7.20)
People are often judged by their apparent actions, not their real intentions. That is the case with a teenage high schooler whose actions are always misunderstood by the people around him. Youto Yokodera is the Mc Op with a secret, a student who can’t reveal his honest intentions. He is a big pervert, but most of the time, his perverted actions are interpreted as good ones by people because of his unwanted trait. He meets Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi, a girl who also wants to get rid of her unwanted trait. They end up getting rid of their traits by praying to the old cat statue. They soon realize the importance of their lost traits and decide to search for them.
The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat is one of the very few love stories that I actually enjoyed both romance and comedy. Not many manage to captivate me on both.
55. Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru (MAL Score: 7.21)
In a world where a strange curse is placed upon a young boy who has made his life a living hell. The curse is cast by a mysterious entity that has caused him nothing but trouble. Kanade Amakusa is an ordinary student, but everything changes when he is cursed by a mysterious god. The curse forces him to choose an action from available options like a role-playing game. He meets Chocolat, a girl summoned because of the choice made by Kanade during a certain event. This mysterious girl promises to lift the curse if Kanade helps her in certain missions. Now, Kanade must help her in completing these missions.
It’s pretty funny at times. A lot of the jokes are dirty or ecchi, so if you don’t like that or fanservice it is not the show for you.
54. Nazo no Kanojo X (Mysterious Girlfriend, MAL Score: 6.88)
The anime tells the story of Akira Tsubaki, who decides to taste the saliva of his antisocial companion, Mikoto Urabe, while she snoozes and drools on his desk. After this unusual episode, the girl, who has just moved in, and the protagonist begin to hang out and get to know each other better.
Technically, the ecchi harem series is truly commendable. The production value is excellent and leaves little room for complaints of any kind. The crafted direction makes the thirteen episodes that make up the series fly with ease, allowing only a few small physiological declines during the narrative.
53. Company: Moeru Shinryakusha (Outbreak Company, MAL Score: 7.24)
Shinichi Kanou, a social outcast spends most of his time watching anime, reading manga, and playing video games. Thanks to his expertise, he is offered a job. As he leaves the interview, suddenly he is kidnapped. Shinichi awakens in a new fantasy world full of magical creatures. The Japanese government gave him the task of establishing peaceful relations with the new world. In order to establish the relationship, he will need to start a new company that spread Japanese anime culture to this new, unexplored market. Shinichi meets Myucel Foran, a young cute half-elf girl, assigned as his caretaker. The fate of Japan and this new world (Eldant Empire) now rests on Shinichi. He must use his knowledge and tactics to maintain peace on both sides.
The series is full of a love for the ecchi harem genre and it is also not afraid to laugh at us occasionally. I was expecting a mediocre series at best that is full of fancifulness and fantasy. What I actually discovered is a pretty hilarious series with top characters and a pretty amusing premise.
52. Strike the Blood: Valkyria no Oukoku-hen (MAL Score: 7.27)
I absolutely love this anime, and I feel it should be analyzed carefully. The plot centers on Kojou Akatsuki, a normal high school student who after the death of the vampire Avrora takes his powers. The Lion Organization sends a girl named Yukina Hiramegi to observe the new vampire. The series does not have a trivial plot but is rather very promising. During the episodes, we see so many wonderful and complex situations. Take for instance the so-called “equivocal situations”.
Despite being an ecchi harem anime, these are not invasive, but rather are placed with discretion and occur in a fun and pleasant. The episodes are all connected to each other. Although it’s not the first anime where this happens, I found it a bit boring the way each “saga” repeats; A normal beginning – something happens – development – a happy ending. However, this is just a minor detail compared to the amazing quality of this anime.
51. Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist (MAL Score: 7.28)
The story takes place in a future where sexual expression is banned. Okuma, a student, meets Ayame, a girl who has a double life: at school, she is a normal student, but secretly she is a member of SOX, an organization that spreads obscenities to interfere with the work of the government. Ayame forces Okuma to join SOX, and that’s how their adventures begin.
I liked the series precisely because it deals with topics such as sexuality in light-hearted, demented, and vulgar. Its strength is precisely the humor on the taboos of obscenities and eroticism in general, in addition to the absurd gags.
50. Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo? (Farming Life in Another World MAL Score: 7.45)
The story is about a trio of teenagers who are blessed with psychic powers, and they receive an invitation to participate in high-stakes games using these abilities. These games take place in a mysterious place called Little Garden, and the stakes are high, with a community’s status and wealth on the line. This seems like it will be a thrilling adventure, and I’m intrigued by the concept of psychic abilities being used for games. It will be interesting to see how the trio handles this new challenge, and how they put their powers to use.
Essentially, it follows a similar premise to other isekai ecchi harem with op mc trope where an individual or a group is transported to a different world, which revolves around games. However, the characters in this anime are quite unimpressive. Those who have been summoned have mostly stuck around simply out of boredom, and to make matters worse, they are all extremely powerful with no real risk involved.
49. Isekai wa Sumatofon to Tomo ni (In Another World With My Smartphone, MAL Score: 7.28)
Touya Mochizuki, an ordinary guy, gets struck by lightning one day and dies. To his surprise, God himself confesses that he accidentally killed him, and will give him a second chance to live his life in a new fantasy world. God lets him keep the phone and Touya sets off on the adventure of a lifetime. Here is another one of those modern Isekai anime with cheesy characters, clichés, overpowered protagonists with a secret, and typical plots.
What makes it slightly interesting is the way it attempts to break the status quo of other similar anime and also presents new ideas in its second half.
48. Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (MAL Score: 7.28)
The series is set in a normal world where there is no sign of supernatural occurrences. There lives a young boy who unknowingly triggers a series of supernatural events that may change his life once and for all. Jin Mikuriya is a normal student who unknowingly takes the branch of a sacred tree to make a sculpture project for his school. He met Nagi, a girl born from the sculpture of Jin. Nagi is a goddess, and her mission was to purify the earth. Nagi is powerless in this world now and Jin must help her to fight the impurities of the world. It’s an interesting assertion.
This is an ecchi comedy first and foremost. It does have a harem-like feel, with the live-in goddess, childhood friend girl, etc, but nothing really develops romantically. Great anime though.
47. Sora no Otoshimono (Heaven’s Lost Property, MAL Score: 7.29)
The story revolves around a boy from the city of Sorami named Tomoki Sakurai. Since childhood, he has always had the same strange dream in which a beautiful girl holds his hand and then disappears into the sky making him wake up in tears.
Maybe that dream is about to come true. Heaven’s Lost Property is a series with a peculiar and questionable plot in itself since it sees this girl, this strange angel, being a fantasy creature that must fulfill every desire of her master. The animations and characters are interesting, while the twists and turns are sometimes too predictable. However, I can’t say it’s a bad anime, at most maybe mediocre.
46. Sekirei: Pure Engagement (MAL Score: 7.31)
A powerful organization that calls itself “MIB” is about to set up the mysterious “Sekirei Plan”: more than a hundred girls of unknown origin and with special powers will have to fight each other until, as tradition dictates, only one will remain. The unfolding of the plan has two phases: In the first phase the Sekirei will have to “conquer the wings”, that is, try to increase their powers until they reach the ultimate state: to do this they will have to find their “Ashikabi”, a person capable of igniting their love.
Sekirei: Pure Engagement is a really good ecchi harem anime. The plot is not very original with the usual guy who finds himself surrounded by beautiful girls. But despite this, it’s super entertaining.
45. Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, MAL Score: 7.31)
Ichinose Academy is famous because of its two talented students who are considered prodigies in certain subjects. However, these young prodigies have ambitions that are very far from their talents. Nariyuki Yuiga is an average student who becomes a position holder through his hard work. He aims for a scholarship because he has a weak financial background. The principal tasks him to teach the two prodigies of his school in exchange for the scholarship. These two students are Fumino Furuhashi and Rizu Ogata, who are the renowned prodigies of Ichinose Academy. Nariyuki must help these students in achieving their goals.
We Never Learn: BOKUBEN is a show about nothing. It’s the kind of ecchi that somehow has harem shenanigans, rather than a contentious or competitive thing that harems can often be.
44. ORESUKI Are you the only one who loves me? (MAL Score: 7.35)
Romantic relationships in high school can turn out to be very complicated. There are always things that don’t go as planned. That is the case with an average high schooler who finds himself entangled in a complex relationship. Amatsuyu Kisaragi is a normal high school student with a rather kind personality and attitude. But that is all a facade because, in reality, he plans to build a harem of cute girls for himself. He meets Sakura Akino and Aoi Hinata, who are the cutest girls in his school. However, the two of them ask for his help as they are in love with his best friend, Taiyou Ooga. Now, Amatsuyu must help them while working on his own master plan.
The series kept me saying to myself “There must be a catch” hoping it wasn’t such a generic piece of ecchi. It still managed to throw me off guard completely in a good way.
43. HighS School DxD (MAL Score: 7.36)
Issei Hyodo is a high school pervert who loves the girls from Kuoh Academy. When he finally nails his first date, a fallen angel kills him. He is restricted by Rias Gremory, a red-haired school beauty. She is actually a devil and Hyodo becomes her servant. They develop a deep bond, which is endangered by their numerous run-ins with angels, fallen angels, and other demons.
High School DxD is one of the best ecchi harem anime where the OP MC falls in love. An incredibly successful series that has several seasons with rich mythology and characters.
42. Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, MAL Score: 7.51)
Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend is about a boy named Tomoya Aki, a typical otaku. He has been obsessed with watching anime and reading manga for many years. His obsession has reached a point where this is all he does and he often sticks to fictional characters. So he decides to design a game where he can share his love of anime and manga with everyone else. The only problem here is that he won’t be able to do this on his own.
Overall, it is definitely not the best ecchi harem, but it is definitely very satisfying and entertaining. For someone who is looking for a serious romance, this might not be the best option. But for someone who really likes even the more typical harem series, this one gives you the same amount of fun and also introduces new ideas into the genre.
41. Tenchi Muyou! (Tenchi Universe, MAL Score: 7.43)
Set in a world where space pirates are feared by the people of Earth because of their big ships and powers. However, things begin to change when an infamous pirate ship crash-landed on Earth. Tenchi Masaki is a young man who wishes to become a priest at a temple near his home. He is a man with a kind personality, as he always helps people in trouble. Tenchi’s life changes when a pirate ship lands near his home. He saves the life of Ryouko Hakubi, a space pirate whose spaceship was stranded on Earth. As Ryouko begins to live with him, more strange women start appearing at Tenchi’s house. Now, Tenchi must adapt to this new lifestyle to survive.
Tenchi Muyo is the best ecchi harem anime among the anime classics. It has a way of making you want more and the amount of offspring and reboots are testimony to that. It contains action, fantasy, school, and girls surrounded by the male protagonist. If you love a very strong male lead and not the typical “just an average boy” or “suddenly discovers a hidden power” then you’ll want to watch this ecchi.
40. Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry (Chivalry of a Failed Knight, MAL Score: 7.48)
Young Ikki Kurogane attends the Hagun Academy to become a knight. He lives in a world where Modern-day magicians are referred to as “magic knights” who manifest their powers by materializing spiritual force in the form of weapons called Balzer. However, Ikki fails miserably, and as a result, he earns the title “The Worst One”. He doesn’t get the necessary results and credits and as a result, he has to do the first year all over again.
The plot is full of tropes of protagonists who suddenly acquire popularity and fame in a short time and girls who fall in love with the protagonist. But these cliches are used wisely to serve the narrative by illustrating the character’s psychics.
39. Elfen Lied (MAL Score: 7.52)
The Diclonius have mutated humans with paranormal powers. They feature two horns on their heads and are able to manipulate the space around them via invisible arms called “vectors”. Being dangerous for the normal human race, they are locked up from birth in secret research laboratories. But one of them, Lucy, a crazy anime girl, manages to escape to the sea and massacres anyone in front of her. She is found on the beach in a complete state of amnesia by two boys, Kouta and Yuka. Lucy finds herself with a completely different personality and the two boys decide to call her the only word she can say, “Nyuu”. Unable to leave her alone in that condition, they take her home with them while waiting to find out something about her past. But in the meantime, the government sets out on her trail.
A complex plot, well-orchestrated through thirteen episodes, capable of intriguing and exciting, sometimes cruel, with action scenes and lots of splatters. Take into account that the series is sixteen years old. The character designs and animations are not up to date. As a side dish to this excellent storyline, there are very good theme songs, especially the initial one in Latin, which is very appropriate, as is the soundtrack in general.
38. Hayate No Gotoku (Hayate The Combat Butler, MAL Score: 7.54)
Bad luck is like a curse that seems to follow a person even to the depths of hell. Hayate Ayasaki is an abandoned child who works illegally to pay the huge debt of his parents. He learns several skills that make him quite a useful person. Hayate saves Nagi Sanzenin, a cute girl from a wealthy family from a bunch of kidnappers, and ends up becoming his personal butler. Now, Hayate must defend her from evil people while maintaining the Sanzenin household.
If you’re not looking for something too serious you can give it a shot.
37. Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo (Yamada-Kun And The Seven Witches, MAL Score: 7.59)
Fixing your social image is not easy as it sounds, as a bad reputation cannot easily be washed away. That was the case with an ex-delinquent who wanted to renew his life by joining a not-so-popular high school. Ryu Yamada was a delinquent in his previous school. He had to go through a miserable phase just because of a fight. Ryu decided to renew his personality but failed to do so because of his rude nature. He meets Urara Shiraishi, a top-class student at his high school.
Yamada found out about his power which he can use to switch bodies with a person just by kissing. What change will this power bring to their lives?
36. Prison School (MAL Score: 7.65)
The story begins by introducing five boys who enroll in an academy consisting solely of girls. Kiyoshi and the other four are caught trying to spy on the girls in the locker room. As a result, they are locked up in the school’s prison. The girls abuse them, and throughout the anime, the five boys try to escape.
Entertainment and comedy are the highlights of Prison School. These boys are really great, characteristically and graphically strange, but composed really well.
35. Princess Lover! (MAL Score: 6.20)
Teppei Arima is a high school student and martial arts expert thanks to his father who coaches him. After his two parents are killed in what appears to be a car accident, Tapie is invited to his grandfather’s palace – a rich and influential man. On his way there, Tapie rescues a rich girl from a gang of thugs who chased her carriage. When he arrives, Tapie is greeted with applause and discovers that he will inherit his multi-millionaire grandfather, but for that, he must marry.
Surprisingly good ecchi harem series. Very good even. The animation may not be the most innovative and the graphics are not exactly modern, but the freestyle makes it fun to watch. The plot is not very sophisticated but does the job well when it comes to entertaining the audience. There are action, vampires, and lots of girls, so I can’t ask for more.
34. Mayo Chiki! (MAL Score: 7.72)
Subaru Konoe is a handsome young man who works as a butler for Kanade Suzutsuki in order to earn a living. Behind the appearance, however, lies an uncomfortable secret. Kinjiro Sakamachi, Kanade’s classmate, discovers it. From here arises a series of events that involve the two. Subaru can not allow other people to know his secret.
Mayo Chiki! is one of the best well-made entertainment series. Recommended if taken for what it is, without too many pretensions.
33. Date a Live (MAL Score: 7.18)
In Tokyo, earthquakes ravage the everyday life of people. Soon it becomes known that the appearance of spirits from another realm is the reason behind these frequent earthquakes. Shidou Itsuka is an average student living a quiet life with his family. However, his peaceful life is disrupted when he gets involved in an earthquake. Shidou figures out his mysterious power that can help in stopping these earthquakes. He ends up saving a girl named Tooka Yatogami, whose emergence into this world was the source of earthquakes. Now, Shidou must use his powers to win the hearts of all the cute spirit girls to save the world.
It’s such an over-the-top ecchi harem anime, and it’s absolutely hilarious to watch.
32. Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita (MAL Score: 5.42)
The protagonist of the story is the reserved Shizuka Kominami, a student who has difficulty adjusting to city life. During a mixer party, the girl runs into an older student, Ryo Kirishima. The two become friends, with Shizuka deciding to spend the night at Ryo’s house. However, out of the blue, the latter kisses her and pushes her onto the bed. At first, Shizuka thinks the girl is a lesbian, but she soon discovers that Ryo is actually a cross-dressing man. It lasts very little and has a decidedly gritty plot.
That said, you’ll see for yourself how decent the animation workmanship is but nothing more. Yet what keeps you wanting to continue the series, how the plot evolves, is the courage of the subject that more than anything else characterizes the story. It’s an ecchi anime that hasn’t been much appreciated, however, something this particular is hard to find especially when it comes to eroticism and gender identity.
31. Dokyuu Hentai HxEros (Super HxEros, MAL Score: 5.75)
In a world on the brink of a great disaster that began five years ago, heroes who, with the help of a device called HxEros, use the power of Ecchi (H) and erotic power (Ero) to save the planet from monsters! Enjou Retto and Hoshino Kirara are childhood friends who have drifted away from each other. One day, they are caught in a battle against a “Censor Bug” that feeds on human sexual energy to evolve. After successfully taking down the enemy, they join a group of heroes like themselves, using the erotic power of the HxEROS force to fight the monsters.
Excellent ecchi harem anime that tries through the mixture of various ideas to find an original mix and in fact, it succeeds. I liked it a lot because of the subject that makes eroticism not only a visual aspect but also of the narrative, managing to conceive the ecchi subgenre as something really special.
30. Val x Love (MAL Score: 5.79)
Takuma Akustu wants to live a peaceful and solitary life by dedicating himself to his studies. His very scary face prevents him from making friends and has earned him the nickname “Akuma” (devil). However, he still lives a fulfilling life and strives to become the good person his late mother saw in him. Everything changes when he becomes involved in the affairs of the Saotome sisters, Valkyries! Takuma is summoned by Odin to ally with the girls and defend the world from demons and total destruction. The Valkyries’ power comes from love, so the boy will have to live with them and become more and more intimate. Will Takuma and the valkyries be able to save the world?
This fantasy series is peculiar in its genre: it goes from ecchi scenes to sentimental and deep scenes, to absurd fights in an instant. The relationships that develop and evolve between the sisters and Takuma help him, along with the memory of his mother, overcome his innermost fears until he becomes an admirable man, worthy of the Valkyries’ love.
29. Nande Koko ni Sensei ga! (Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!? MAL Score: 6.50)
The 17-year-old Ichirou Satou is an ordinary student who seems destined to find himself by chance in particularly thorny situations with his teacher, Kana Kojima. Everyone thinks she’s a witch.
On the technical side, the designs and animation are really well done; the characters are perfectly drawn. The series has a good dose of comedy and romance, so the ingredients are all there.
28. Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! (Nakaimo – My Sister Is Among Them! MAL Score: 6.55)
In the play, whose title can be summarily translated to “One of them is my younger sister!”, we meet the son of an industrial tycoon. Upon the passing of his father Kumagoro, CEO of the Mikadono Group, Shogo is given a couple of conditions that will allow him to inherit the family’s properties. First, he will have to prove himself fit for the task through a year of special training at the company. Second, he will have to find a mate for life at school. When he moves to a new institution, the boy learns that he has a younger sister from whom he was separated at birth. He doesn’t know what she looks like, the only certainty is that the girl is one of the students enrolled in his new school and that she intends to find him and marry him!
This is also a very light product and also deserves to be on this list. Unlike other animes, even some featured on this list, the plot is really worthy and the incipit adds a dose of mystery and challenge in the viewer, who will look for any clue to figure out who the little sister is.
27. Shuumatsu no Harem (World’s End Harem, MAL Score: 6.33)
When a mysterious disease wipes out the entire male half of humanity, the only hope to avoid extinction is a handful of boys. They will have the difficult task of repopulating. Turns out, they are the most desired and sought-after resource!
It’s a very interesting series. Instead of pure fantasy, it mixes the ecchi anime genre with sci-fi and thriller. If you like the genre it’s certainly a TV show you shouldn’t miss.
26. Mahou Shoujo Ore (Magical Girl Ore, MAL Score: 6.63)
The plot of Magical Girl Ore revolves around a high school student named Saki Uno. He is one of two members of an exceptionally unpopular idol duo called Magical Twins. Saki’s life takes a dramatic and unexpected turn when she meets a man she invites to her home who looks like a yakuza. As Saki gets to know the man better, she discovers that her mother was a Magical Girl who fought demons. She also realizes that the man is actually a mascot named Kokoro-chan. He tries to recruit Saki to take her mother’s place.
This is a great mix of laughter and muscle. Really adorable is the fairy, named Kokoro. When she transforms into her mini version, she becomes a hideous magical girl with a head disproportionate to her body. Also, the fight scenes are pretty Helitours. That fits well into the narrative and gives the rhythm that the show needs to be even more entertaining.
25. B-gata H-kei (Yamada’s First Time: B Gata H Kei, MAL Score: 6.83)
Yamada, a virgin high school student, who is inexperienced with boys, decides to collect sexual experiences with a hundred different partners. But, even before carrying out her intentions, the girl falls in love with a schoolmate, Takashi Kosuda, who is also inexperienced in love and, of course, a virgin, but with a strong passion for photography.
One of the most beautiful sentimental comedies I’ve seen. The technical aspect does not excel and remains average, with good graphics and good voiceovers. The beauty of this anime comes from the premise of the plot and the situations that will be created with the two main characters. Even though B Gata H Kei is about a cute couple, our protagonist undoubtedly is Yamada, whose mental processes we follow through her imaginary alter ego. Thus having her comment on her own improvised and inappropriate behavior.
24. Campione!: Matsurowanu Kamigami to Kamigoroshi no Maou (Champion! MAL Score: 6.98)
16-year-old Kusanagi Godou manages to defeat the God of War. As a result, he is now a ‘Champion!’ Also known as the God Slayer. His mission is to fight any God who tries to change things in his area at the expense of the people who live there.
Overall, Champion offers an in-depth storyline, likable characters, thrilling action, and nice, well-placed fan service. If you like really serious anime then this might not be the anime for you. But for others who are looking for ecchi, magic, romance, and even action, Champion! is a real gem of a show.
23. Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? MAL Score: 6.98)
Dungeon is a mysterious place where adventurers go in search of fame and riches while risking a painful death. Before entering the dungeon, new adventurers can join a family, which is one of the groups led by a god or goddess that can consist of up to hundreds of members. However, for Bell Cranel, the goal will be to impress Aiz Wallenstein. She has taken a crush after a daring rescue.
This is structured anime with a role-playing game. It has a lot of well-done fight scenes and many well-handled comedy situations.
22. Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou (Monster Musume, MAL Score: 7.02)
Due to an administrative error, young Kimihito Kuruso becomes a host family for female students of non-human species. One of them is a lamia named Miia. She is impressed by the boy’s kindness and tries in every way to seduce him.
Monster Musume is a pleasant and very original ecchi harem series. The beastly nature of the protagonists gives the anime an alternative vision of interspecies tolerance. I also like the variety of “monsters” and the races. From a graphical and sound point of view, it’s really excellent with visual quality, and a really catchy opening. The plot is different from its genre and is quite interesting. It increases the desire for discovery in those who watch it.
21. To LOVE-Ru (MAL Score: 7.02)
The series follows the storyline of Rito Yūki, a high school student who has major problems confessing his love for his high school crush, Haruna Sairenji. The anime takes a lot of liberties when it comes to portraying the various ways Rito is stopped while trying to confess his love.
To Love-Ru is certainly not an anime that shines for originality or plot complexity, but rather one that tries to satisfy the viewer with mischievous and funny situations filled with beautiful hot girls, without ever falling into vulgarity.
20. Highschool of the Dead (MAL Score: 7.0)
The world is thrown into chaos when the dead begin rising from their graves and attacking the living. Takashi Kimuro is forced to kill his best friend after he’s bitten but vows to protect the friend’s girlfriend, Rei Miyamoto. Together, they escape with a group of other students and set off on a quest to find their family members and uncover what caused the apocalypse. While they encounter many hardships along the way, the combined strength of these individuals allows them to overcome the hordes of undead and ultimately save the world.
I can see why some viewers might be put off by its frequent fan service scenes and panty shots. Despite these elements, the series manages to balance humor, emotional depth, and zombie-killing action, making for an entertaining watch for those who can look past its flaws.
19. Yuragi-so no Yuna-san (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs, MAL Score: 7.03)
Fuyuzora Kogarashi is a boy endowed with spiritual powers, very poor, and always looking for a house to live in. One day he comes across a boarding house. The rent is particularly convenient since the guesthouse is haunted by a ghost. For Kogarashi this is not a problem, nor are the other tenants of the house, who are all very attractive girls. He soon discovers that it is the spirit of a 16-year-old girl named Yuna who is haunting the guesthouse. Once he realizes that Kogarashi has no bad intentions with Yuna, the other tenants decide to reveal their supernatural nature, and that’s how he begins a life that is anything but normal!
It’s a series that I really enjoyed because it doesn’t have any big, somnambulistic twists or tangled plots, but doesn’t limit itself to being a quasi-mystery show. This is a mystery series, a quest that needs to be solved. In the midst of all this there are of course the implications of ecchi, then placed in a very special context.
18. Ai Yori Aoshi: Enishi (Bluer Than Indigo, MAL Score: 7.14)
The sequel to the most random anime where the mc is forced into a relationship ever seen. Bluer Than Indigo follows where the first season left off, giving us a deeper insight into what life is like for the couple we remember from the first season.
With returning faces and new ones coming to play, the series introduces new themes while keeping up with what made the series so unique in the first place. Just how will their story progress when there’s so much going on around the two? It’s rowdy, rambunctious, and audacious to the very limit! Definitely not a harem ecchi series you should miss out on!
17. Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (MAL Score 6.99)
Hajime Nagumo is an ordinary high school student who finds himself transported to a fantastical world of magic, monsters, and adventure. However, he is quickly abandoned by his classmates and forced to fend for himself in a dangerous dungeon. With a combination of wits and determination, he manages to overcome the challenges he faces and become a powerful and fearless adventurer. Along the way, he encounters several other fascinating characters, including a vampire princess and a bunny girl, who join him on his journey.
The Arifureta anime adaptation of Arifureta is certainly a mixed bag, with its share of both highs and lows. The story and characters are strong and compelling, and the protagonist’s journey from an average high school student to a powerful and badass adventurer is engaging and inspiring. While the group may be a bit overpowered at times, the story remains exciting and entertaining thanks to a well-balanced mixture of action, adventure, humor, and romance. Despite some of its flaws, the anime is an enjoyable and entertaining watch.
16. Madan no Ou to Vanadis (Lord Marksman and Vanadis, MAL Score: 7.14)
The story is set in a fantasy Europe of the Middle Ages, where battles are fought by sword and magic. On the battlefields, however, dominate the Vanadis, seven beautiful warlords who rule over as many territories and wield special weapons obtained from dragons. During one of these battles, the young archer Tigrevurmud Vorn, a low-ranking nobleman of the Kingdom of Brune, is faced with the Vanadis Eleonora “Elen” Victoria who, of course, defeats him. Instead of dealing him the final blow, Elen captures Tigre as her prisoner and servant.
The story is engaging and exciting, to the point that I devoured the thirteen episodes in no time. The anime is rendered very well and is relatively believable and consistent. I appreciated the diagrams with the explanations of the battles and the various tactics, although I would have undoubtedly preferred to see some fighting (and a little ‘blood) more!
15. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends, MAL Score: 7.21)
Kodaka Hasegawa is a transfer student at a Catholic High School. Due to a misunderstanding on the first day of school and the mesh-like color of his blond hair, he is considered a delinquent by everyone and consequently has no friends. By chance, one day he discovers a classmate of his, Yozora Mikazuki, who is also a loner and an outcast, talking alone in class with an imaginary friend after class. After a conversation between the two about the difficulty of making new acquaintances, she decides to create a club with the aim of making up for this lack, the club of friends. So, between games, outings, and bickering, the group begins to expand.
Wonderful anime that deserves great praise. Not so much for the setting, which can be monotonous at first glance and seem like any setting for a common ecchi harem anime, but it actually hides a plot that is much denser and more interesting than it might seem. The character spectrum of the various characters is really well done, and the twists and turns are not lacking, especially in the second season. The visuals and voice acting are well done, and the plot remains quite faithful to the light novel.
14. Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de (They Are My Noble Masters, MAL Score: 7.21)
Following the death of their mother, two brothers, Ren and Mihato run away to Yokohama to look for work. They come across a girl in trouble and Ren rescues her. It turns out that the girl is the daughter of the rich and powerful Kuonji family who decides to hire the two brothers as waiters to thank them. The graphics are good, with warm colors, and the direction is good.
The story undoubtedly has the merit of describing the master-worker relationship from the point of view of the latter and following the basic thesis that being in someone’s service is important. It allows one to be a sort of parental figure and to facilitate someone’s life and well-being. Sure, there are better anime, but at least it’s very entertaining and valid.
13. Sankarea (MAL Score: 7.25)
The story is about Chihiro Furuya, a sixteen-year-old freshman in high school, who is obsessed with horror films and zombies in particular. So much so that he dreams of being able to kiss a zombie girl! Thanks to a series of circumstances the boy meet a beautiful and elegant schoolmate named Rea Sanka, and together they try to resurrect, using a potion, Baabu the cat of Chiharu, killed in an accident. But Rea wants to escape the pressures of her family and her responsibilities and sees the potion and the prospect of becoming a zombie as a great escape route.
The plot is really well structured, at times moving, and is able to engage the viewer in this absurd story. The pasts of the characters are also well addressed and the ecchi scenes are really the background of this magnificent work. It comes off as a bit slow at times, but too good to be overshadowed by these details.
12. To Love Ru – Darkness (MAL Score: 7.44)
To-Love-Ru Darkness is a sequel in which all the protagonists of the old series make their appearance along with some new additions. Among them, Golden Darkness, also known as Yami, is a fearsome killer that is put to the test.
Obviously, the “poor” Rito will continue to be the victim of a flood of ecchi situations strictly uncensored. The development of the series is truly remarkable. It never seeks complexity and concentrates on offering often sophisticated but always light-hearted entertainment. If you loved To Love Ru, you can’t miss its sequel as well.
11. Kidou Senkan Nadesico (Martian Successor Nadesico, MAL Score 7.5)
The earth is invaded by alien lizard-like monsters that threaten the very existence of humanity. These monsters have previously destroyed the civilization on Mars, and very few survivors of Mars fled to the earth. Akito Tenkawa is a young man who loves to fly mechas but doesn’t fear piloting. He once lived on Mars but fled to earth after the lizards destroyed his planet. He meets with Yurika Misumaru, a young eccentric girl who turns out to be the captain of the Nadesico battleship. Akito may end up piloting the Nadesico battleship to save the earth from monsters.
The real beauty of this show is that while it’s a parody, it breaks a lot of new ground because it keeps pointing out the absurdity of the things it is parodying. It shows that ecchi animes can also be fun and wonderful even though it’s not philosophical or deep.
10. Ranma 1/2 Akumu! Shunmin Kou (Mal Score: 7.76)
The plot of the show follows Ranma Saotome, an energetic high school boy who enjoys practicing martial arts. However, an accident during a trip to China causes Ranma to be cursed, leading him to turn into a female whenever water gets thrown at him. This causes him to have a difficult time navigating his complicated life as a teenager, which includes training for martial arts tournaments and dealing with his two rivals for the position of the most powerful warrior. As he tries to master his curse, Ranma also learns about love and what it means to be a genuine person.
It’s not necessarily deep or philosophical, but it does a good job of capturing the fun and awkwardness of being a teenager, and it can be a great escape from reality for a while. Without ecchi harem elements, the series would lack a lot of the humor and excitement that makes it so enjoyable. Ranma 1/2 is an example of ecchi harem anime done right, as it uses the genre to its full potential and is still fun and engaging to watch, so if you’re a fan of the genre, consider checking it out.
9. Grisaia no Rakuen (The Eden Of Grisaia, MAL Score: 7.55)
The life of an assassin is a deadly path that only leads to the depths of hell and despair, as taking the life of someone comes with a price that may be heavier than one can imagine. Yuuji Kazami is an orphan who becomes a ruthless assassin for a terrorist organization. After working for a long time, he decides to take a break and joins Mihama Academy as just another ordinary student. However, Yuuji soon finds out that normal life may not exist for him. He met different girls in the academy. Every girl has a dark past. Even though Yuuji is not tasked to save these girls, he ends up doing so out of his own will.
The Eden Of Grisaia is my favorite and one of the best ecchi harem series. And yes, it is dark anime and serious enough when it needs to be.
8. Kanon (MAL Score: 7.98)
Memories are an important part of a person’s life. However, when a young man moves to a town where he had lived in the past, he can’t recall those memories that were precious to him. Yuuichi Aizawa was a young man with a kind personality. He had a good life going on, but he couldn’t recall a certain part of him that was lost in his past memories.
He decides to visit that town again to search for his long-lost memories. Yuuichi meets Ayu Tsukimiya, a cute cheerful girl who remembers Yuuichi as her friend in the distant past. With these hazy memories of his past, what will be the fate of Yuuichi and those around him? There are four distinct arcs with a slight overlap between each other. On the whole, the show pretty much keeps an even balance between comedy and drama. There are some arcs that really touched me, it’s overall a fun and laid-back watch.
7. Clannad (MAL Score: 8.03)
Certain incidents in life can completely change a person’s heart and lifestyle. A young high school student who doesn’t fit into anything assumes his life is meaningless, but an incident in his life changes everything once and for all. Tomoya Okazaki is a delinquent living a dull and meaningless life. He wastes his high school days doing nothing. One day he meets Nagisa Furukawa, a cute girl who suffers from a grave illness. Nagisa wants to save the failing drama club of her school. Tomoya ends up helping her as he has nothing much to do.
For those who are not yet familiar with Clannad, this is a tear-squeeze machine that you can not afford to miss.
6. Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai (The World God Only Knows, MAL Score: 8.04)
A Shunnan series about a gamer freak who captures the hearts of girls to capture demons. In Japan, “dating sim games” are very popular among otakus. However, only a few people are able to win these games. A young boy was called the God of Conquest because of the unbeatable skills that he used to clear these games. Keima Katsuragi was a loner otaku in everyday life. He was only good at playing dating sim games, and because of his love for these games, he decided to neglect his reality. He meets Elsie, a popular shinigami girl sent from hell to aid Keima in capturing the spirits that have taken refuge in the hearts of cute girls. Now, Keima must use his knowledge of dating sim games to capture the hearts of real girls.
An ecchi harem anime where the popular girl falls in love with the unpopular guy. It is everything, except ordinary. Funny, witty, and crazy ecchi harem.
5. No Game No Life (MAL Score: 8.03)
The story centers on Sora and Shiro, a brother and sister known as very strong NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) gamers. The two gamers live deep in the virtual world, to the point that they consider even real life a “bad game”. One day they are summoned by a boy who calls himself “God” and ends up in a parallel world.
This is one of those series you don’t forget. It was the first show that introduced me to the genre. If you want to watch a short, light, and funny series, with just a little bit of perversion, this is the one. Among the animes where the characters end up in a different world, this is one of the best, because they didn’t want to overdo it by trying to put a plot with too many branches into twelve episodes. The creators kept the story quite linear.
4. Toubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets, MAL Score: 7.68)
Fuutaro Uesugi is a student with excellent grades but an antisocial character who is overwhelmed by family debts. One day he meets a new transfer student and ends up fighting with her. Shortly after he manages to find a part-time job as a private tutor but soon discovers that his student is the very girl he had a fight with Itsuki Nakano.
I personally loved it, watched it by accident, and finished it all in one go. The characters are so well developed, and the plot is simple but fun and engaging. This is a light and probably one of the best ecchi harem anime series. It’s pleasant to watch, but, as it progresses, it becomes more and more interesting.
3. Shokugeki no Soma (Food Wars, MAL Score: 8.21)
Ever since he was a kid, 15-year-old Soma has been helping his father at their family restaurant. Over the years Soma has developed a desire to surpass his father and eventually become the proud owner of the family restaurant. Suddenly his father decides to close the restaurant and try to test his cooking skills around the world and sends Soma for exams at one of the leading high schools in the field of cooking which only 10% of the examinees manage to get accepted. Will Soma be able to be accepted into this high school and take another step toward his goal?
Uzaki is a very special character, perhaps visually a bit male, but with breasts exaggeratedly discreet! For an anime with so many double-sided jokes, Uzaki is really the perfect character, also because of the way she was structured, nice, playful but sometimes a bit vulgar.
2. Bakemonogatari (MAL Score: 8.35)
Koyomi Araragi is a third-year student who survives a vampire attack with the help of Meme Oshino, a mysterious individual who resides in an abandoned building. Rescued from vampirism and human again, Araragi soon realizes that he has many more abilities than before. An unforeseen side effect, despite which he will try to pass the school year, as usual, thanks to the help of a girl wearing glasses Tsubasa Hanekawa, the head of the class.
The first impact was quite traumatic. Occluded and repetitive environments, a soundtrack at times pounding almost psychedelic. However, as soon as I became familiar with the direction and with this somewhat peculiar animation, I really began to appreciate this anime to the fullest. The music is beautiful. The quality of the drawings and animation is exceptional. But most of all, which is obviously essential for such an introspective anime, the characters are exceptionally well characterized.
1. Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, MAL Score: 8.37)
The story is set in Tokyo, where an elite school called Ouran High School exists where folks from noble families spend their daily school life. Haruhi Fujioka is an intelligent girl studying at Ouran Academy on scholarship. She accidentally becomes involved with the Host Club of the academy and ends up working as a Host to pay off her debt. Haruhi meets Tamaki Suou, a handsome guy who turned out to be the president of Ouran Academy. What change will the host club bring to the life of Haruhi and those around her? Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu is a bit controversial. It stands out as a biography anime, and not too very often do we see anime with complex characters with layers of depth.
The ratings for the first and second seasons on MAL are pretty high (8.37). It has some of the best storytelling, character development, and animation. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is the best ecchi harem anime out there.
