I loved it when Serena kissed Ash in the last episode of Pokémon XYZ. But let’s face it – we didn’t even get to see their lips touching! I believe Serena kissed Ash on the mouth, but all we saw is Serena’s feet floating upward and not the actual tongue wrestle. Luckily for us, most anime shows are not intended primarily for kids, so we do get to watch some decent tongue action from time to time. From heart-pounding confession scenes to steamy lip locks, anime has gifted us with some of the most unforgettable and iconic kisses in all of entertainment. In this list, I will count down the 20 best anime kisses, ranked by their hotness. Prepare for some many kisses it will hurt your mouth!
Best Anime Kiss
20. Noir and Emma from Ore Dake Haireru Kakushi Dungeon
Noir Stardia has one extraordinary ability: the power to communicate with a great sage, even though it causes him excruciating headaches. Luckily for Noir, his childhood friend Emma Brightness helps him relieve the headaches he gets by kissing him. Noir isn’t aware that Emma has feelings for him and doesn’t seem to notice the more intimate implications of the two of them kissing. However, on multiple occasions, it has been demonstrated that Noir is not fond of other boys attempting to win over Emma or spy on her, and he is prepared to go to great lengths to prevent them from doing so. This suggests that Noir may have romantic feelings for Emma, even if he has not fully acknowledged or comprehended them yet. What you see in the picture is the first time Noir and Emma share an anime kiss, and that’s one hot kiss.
19. King and Diane from The Seven Deadly Sins
Diane: “King, I have always loved you and I’ll love you forever“. King: “I will love you and be with you forever“. After both confessed their love for each other, they share a passionate anime kiss for the ages. It happens in episode 7 of season 3 and it’s a great moment, after which they become a couple. King and Diane make a charming couple in every way possible. What makes them even more delightful is the contrast in their sizes. King, the Grizzly’s sin of sloth, is completely enamored with Diane, the Serpent’s sin of envy. Despite his shyness, he always goes out of his way to lift her spirits and be a source of support. Their love has endured many obstacles, including memory loss, shyness, and playful flirtations, but they remain a perfect match.
18. Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online
When your life has literally become a video game, it’s inevitable that you would eventually consider exploring romantic possibilities. In the case of Kirito and Asuna, this moment arises when they narrowly escape death from an ambush by another player. The close call leads to an overwhelming realization of how much they mean to each other, culminating in a passionate anime kiss that sparks a romance that drives the rest of the show. This intense moment is quickly followed by a spontaneous decision to marry each other.
17. Serena and Darien from Sailor Moon
No way was I not giving Sailor Moon and the masked Darien a spot on this list! Very much fitting with the fairytale tone of the show, these two shared their first kiss at a dancing ball. The kiss was the spark that lit one of the most talked about romances in anime history. Serena and Darien, also known as Usagi and Mamoru respectively, are the primary romantic couple in the series. Serena is the main character and leader of the Sailor Scouts. She is initially portrayed as a clumsy and lazy schoolgirl, but she later grows into a strong and confident leader. Darien is Serena’s love interest and eventual boyfriend. He is a mysterious high school student who initially appears cold but is revealed to have a tragic past. Throughout the series, Serena and Darien’s relationship faces several obstacles, including their past lives as Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion, who were tragically separated in a previous lifetime. Despite these challenges, they remain devoted to each other and their love is a central theme of the series. Their love is also one of the key factors in defeating the series’ main villain, Queen Beryl. Serena and Darien’s relationship is a classic tale of love overcoming adversity and remains a beloved part of Sailor Moon’s legacy.
16. Usui and Misaki from Maid Sama!
Takumi Usui is an accomplished and good-looking student, and the girls around his school are very into him, always confessing their love to him. However, the only girl Takumi Usui has eyes for is Misaki. The show follows him as he does his best to convince her that she should be with him. Their story calumniates at the summer festival, backed by gorgeous fireworks, where they finally makeout for the first time. Seeing these two get into a romantic relationship was extremely satisfying for us fans. However, the series was canceled due to low popularity in Japan.

One of the most aesthetically stunning and passionate anime kisses is that shared by Yuji and Shana. It centers on Yuji, a high school student, who one day encounters a sword-wielding girl who battles demons in a long-running war between forces of balance and imbalance in existence.
14. Yusuke and Keiko from Yu Yu Hakusho
The eagerly awaited moment finally arrived at the very end of the show, but it was well worth it! Yusuke and Keiko had been through numerous perilous adventures together over the course of a hundred episodes. When they reunited in the human world, it was everything their fans had hoped for and more. Upon seeing Yusuke return, Keiko was so overjoyed that she tackled him to the ground. This is when the two finally shared a passionate kiss. Against the backdrop of a stunning sunset and the soothing sound of the waves, the happy couple was surrounded by their loyal friends. It was an absolutely perfect way to wrap up one of the most successful series ever!
13. Tsutsui and Iroha from 3D Kanojo: Real Girl
The primary focus of the series is the classic story of the popular girl who falls in love with the unpopular guy Tsutsui and Iroha, although several other couples are also featured. Tsutsui is a timid individual who frequently finds himself in trouble because he struggles to voice his thoughts and opinions, while Iroha is more mature and straightforward in her communication style. Iroha has a reputation for being promiscuous at school, but when she encounters Tsutsui, her behavior changes as she becomes determined to pursue a serious romantic relationship with him. It’s at this point that the two Shinobi, who have been waiting for what feels like an eternity, finally confess their love for one another and share a kiss under the moonlight. When Hinata declares her love for Naruto by saying, “I love you, Naruto-kun,” it was like music to my ears. Finally, it was clear that Hinata was Naruto’s chosen girl, not Sakura. As the movie’s credits roll, we see that Naruto and Hinata have gotten married and have a son and daughter!

Subaru: “I love you so, so much I don’t know what to do with myself. I love every part of your being, Emillia“. We aren’t just told this by Subaru! Entering my top ten spots, Sophie and Howl’s first kiss in “Howl’s Moving Castle” is considered one of the most beautiful and impactful anime kisses ever portrayed. This moment occurs just after Sophie discovers that Howl made a deal with the fire demon Calcifer and realizes where his heart is, which saves his life. Together, they seek out Calcifer and, after many years, Howl finally regains his heart.
9. Haru and Shizuku from My Little Monster
The first kiss between Shizuku and bad boy Haru is regarded as a heartwarming moment, as it represents a breakthrough in their relationship. My Little Monster follows the story of Shizuku Mizutani, a serious high school student who has no interest in making friends or pursuing relationships, and Haru Yoshida, a hot-tempered and socially awkward boy who has a reputation for being a troublemaker. The story begins when Shizuku is tasked with delivering class materials to Haru’s home, and their friendship blossoms from there. Haru becomes infatuated with Shizuku and begins to pursue her, despite her initial reluctance. Throughout the series, we see their relationship grow as they navigate the ups and downs of high school life.
8. Yuri and Victor from Yuri!!! On Ice
This list wouldn’t be complete without a gay kiss. Yuri!!! On Ice is an anime about an ice skater named Yuri Kasuki. When Yuri is eliminated at a world ice skating event, he puts his career on hold. However, his childhood hero, Viktor, sees a video of Yuri and decides to be his trainer, with the goal of getting Yuri a gold medal. Working together, they become increasingly smitten with each other, eventually leading to the two of them kissing in public! Not only did Yuri and Victor share one of the most passionate gay anime kisses, but they also had one of the most exhilarating anime kisses ever. The two skaters have put in a lot of effort together and helped one another grow both personally and professionally. Yuri’s impassioned free skate performance about his love and big end with Victor’s signature move was the ideal way to build up to their famous and probably somewhat painful kiss.

6. Nagisa and Kaede from Assassination Classroom
Assassination Classroom is one of the weirdest anime around and also one of the best in my opinion. It’s about a mysterious octopus-like creature called Koro who destroyed 3/4th of the moon with one of his tentacles and claims to destroy the remaining after a year. He comes to teach the outcasted students of class 3-E in Kunigaoka Junior highschool. The students are tasked with killing their new octopus teacher within the span of a year. If they manage to kill him they’re promised a large sum of money by the government. Nagisa and Kaede are two of the students attending class 3-E and they develop feelings toward each other. At one point Nagisa has to calm her down with a French kiss, shocking her to the point of passing out. This is just a great scene, and I strongly recommend you watch this underrated anime.

She is a member of a clan of mages who possess powerful magical abilities. Lyrule has a kind and gentle personality and is always eager to help those in need. She develops a strong bond with Tsukasa whom she develops feelings. In one amazing scene, Lyrule tries to feed injured Tsukasa with a stew made with goat’s milk. When it turns out that he is too weak to eat, she chews the meat for him and mouth-to-mouth feeds him. However, it looks more like a French kiss than anything else.
4. Otani and Koizumi from Lovely Complex
Initially, Risa Koizumi and Atsushi Otani were rivals who had no interest in each other but eventually became a couple. Due to their height difference, with Risa being taller than the average Japanese girl and Atsushi shorter than the average Japanese guy, they were both sensitive about their stature and started off on the wrong foot. However, as they spent more time together, their feelings for each other grew. Although Atsushi rejected Risa at first, he eventually realized that he had feelings for her too. In a beautiful moment, he surprised her with a passionate kiss while fireworks filled the sky.
3. Mugi and Hanabi from Kuzu No Honkai
What I love about Kuzu No Honkai is that it has more romantic progression in its first five minutes than most romance anime do in their entire runtime! I mean, we have Mugi and the schoolgirl Hanabi willingly tongue-wrestling with each other within the first three minutes of the first episode. This then proves to be nothing more than a prelude to what is to come as the anime has a lot of actual sexual interaction between numerous different characters over the course of the story. However, it is also done in a way that makes it seem like it is not really a big deal to have sex, and that it is something merely a natural part of relationships or even done just for the sake of emotional comfort. You are never given the impression that the sex scenes are anything perverted or something out of the ordinary enough to freak out about.
2. Inuyasha and Kagome from Inuyasha
From the moment Kagome first touched Inuyasha’s dog ears, it was clear that the OP MC will fall in love. fate was to be together. Once Naraku, the main antagonist of the series, was finally defeated, Kagome was ensnared in a pitch-black world, trapped by the Shikon jewel, and forced to submit to its desires. To rescue her, Inuyasha valiantly battled endless swarms of demons until he arrived at her side. In that isolated void, the two shared a long-awaited kiss that ultimately freed them and led to a satisfyingly deserved Happily Ever After.
1. Kyo and Tohru from Fruits Basket
Kyo and the cute girl ever Tohru, hold a special place in my heart as my favorite couple of all time, making their anime kiss an unforgettable moment that tops my list. After eagerly anticipating their kiss for a decade, it was well worth the wait! When Kyo finally kissed her, I was stunned, questioning if it was really happening before my eyes. Both kisses were beautiful, but the second one held more significance as Tohru was fully conscious. I can only imagine the kisses they shared each day after they began dating.
