Ponyo’s determination to become human to be with Sōsuke is also very admirable. Overall, Ponyo is just a wonderful character who brings joy and happiness wherever she goes.

The mermaid who exposed herself as Sun Seto is perfectly okay with this arrangement, but the rest of her gang, especially her father, would rather kill the boy because they’d rather die than have their precious baby girl handed off to a mere human.
